Topic: Should the Arisia convention take a one-year break in 2027?

At the December 9th meeting, Arisia Corporate members will discuss whether to forgo the 2027 convention and what to do with that year. The decision to have this discussion in December was made by members at the November Corporate meeting.

Although only Corporate members who have attended at least one meeting since joining are eligible to vote, anyone in the Arisia community may attend and participate in the discussion. It is the intention of the Corporation that by the end of this meeting we will answer the question: Will there be a 2027 convention?

• Wait, is the 2026 convention happening?!
  Yes! The 2026 convention is happening on January 16-19 at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Cambridge.
  
  
• Why is this happening now?
  This is a difficult question that the Corporation has been debating off and on for several months. However, It is imperative that we make a decision before the impending 2026 convention.
  
  
• Who can vote?
  Any Corporate member who has attended at least one meeting after joining may vote.
  
  
• I cannot attend; can I send in my vote or comments electronically?
  
  • If you are a Corporate member and cannot attend, you may give your proxy to another Corporate member by emailing proxies(at)arisia.org.
  • If you are not a voting member but would like to submit a comment, we recommend that you ask a friend to attend and make the comment on your behalf.
• What progress has been made towards the 2027 convention?
  At this time the 2027 convention does not have a Con Chair or a venue.  
  
  
• If Arisia chooses to take a one-year break, will it come back in 2028?
  Yes, that is the intention.
